Nina Jordan, View of Eagle (after Fuji)
Patrice Lorenz, Border Crossers

Nina Jordan creates colorful landscapes using only found lumber, employing the grain, scars and “defects” of the wood. Through the variations in the wood’s texture, the reduction process, and a playful use of color, she strives to attain a painterly quality within the hard line of the woodcut medium.

Patrice Lorenz paints and subsequently cuts images she’s created from observing the sunflowers she planted on the hillside outside her studio. Lorenz further paints and reassembles these pieces into the final composition. For Lorenz, the life cycle of the sunflower symbolizes that of the striving of the human spirit.

Nina Jordan is a painter and printmaker living and working in NYC. She began her work in reduction block printmaking 20 years ago. She is the recipient of a NYFA fellowship in Printmaking and Artists’ Books. Her prints and artists’ books are in the collections of The New York Public Library, The Yale University Art Gallery, The Getty Museum and many private collections.

Patrice Lorenz has exhibited her work widely in alternative art spaces, established galleries, and museums since the 1980’s. Over the course of her career, Lorenz has worked side by side with other visual artists to deepen her sense of her own work, to explore new directions and to collaborate on creative projects. She has been an active member of a number of artist run organizations including Creative Time, Collaborative Projects, Group Material and ABC NO RIO, in NYC, and helped to establish the Longyear Gallery in Margaretville, NY. Lorenz has been teaching art for over 25 years. In addition to her work with a generation of young artists in the NYC public schools, she has been an associate professor at NYU, Pratt Institute, City College and Empire State College.
