The Roxbury Arts Group is proud to administer the Delaware County Arts Grant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, in Delaware County. DEC funds are used to support projects in three areas: Community Arts, Arts Education, and Individual Artist Tier.

Gallery Assistant
The Roxbury Arts Group is currently seeking candidates for the newly created position of Gallery Assistant.
About the Roxbury Arts Group:
Founded in 1979, the Roxbury Arts Group is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts organization dedicated to making the arts in integral part of life in the communities that we serve. With performance venues and Roxbury, Denver, and Stamford NY, the Roxbury Arts Group offers year-round arts programming consisting of high-quality performances, workshops, exhibits, and other events that aim to serve the residents of and visitors to the Catskills. The Roxbury Arts Group also administers the Statewide Community Regrant program in Delaware County, and provides technical assistance and professional development opportunities to artists and arts organizations working in our region.
Working with the Executive Director, the Gallery Assistant is responsible for implementing the programs and events offered by the Roxbury Arts Group in our Walt Meade Gallery located at the Roxbury Arts Center. Specific duties include:
- Work with the Executive Director to plan an exhibition schedule, approximately 5-6 exhibitions/year
- Act as liaison between exhibiting artists and the Roxbury Arts Group
- Coordinate exhibition details with exhibiting artists
- Install exhibitions
- Manage the visitor experience at the Walt Meade Gallery
- Promote exhibition and complimentary programming
- Facilitate outreach to local schools and groups
- Maintain open gallery hours on Saturdays, 10a – 3p
This position is part-time, non-exempt status. The pay rate is $16/hour with a 10 hour work week. The Roxbury Arts Group is open Tuesday – Saturday, 9a – 4p. The Gallery Manager will be required to work evenings as needed for our program and events. The Gallery Manager frequently moves tables, chairs, risers, and other equipment weighing up to 50lbs. and heavier equipment with assistance.

Arts Outreach Specialist
Job Title: Arts Outreach Specialist (Seasonal Part-Time Independent Contractor)
Job Description: The Roxbury Arts Group seeking candidates to join our team as an Arts Outreach Specialist (Seasonal Part-Time Independent Contractor). The motivated and passionate individuals in this role will support the creative community of Delaware County by promoting opportunities for artists, arts organizations and community groups at farmers markets, street fairs, and other special events throughout Delaware County through October 2023.
Responsibilities include:
- Learning about the Delaware County Arts Grant program, the DelCo Micro Loan program, workshops being offered for artists and arts organizations by the Roxbury Arts Group, and other opportunities for artists and arts organizations.
- Attending farmers markets and other community events throughout Delaware County and engage with visitors, providing information about the arts opportunities available from the Roxbury Arts Group.
- Answer questions and inquiries, ensuring visitors have a clear understanding of the available programs and their benefits.
- Set up and maintain an appealing booth or display area, showcasing promotional materials, artworks, etc.
- Proactively approach and engage potential patrons, encouraging their support and participation in the arts community.
- Demonstrate a strong passion for the arts, effectively communicating the impact and importance of arts programming to diverse audiences.
- Setup and teardown promotional booth and/or area, including signage, banners, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with the Roxbury Arts Group team to develop effective promotional strategies and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, collecting visitor information for future follow-up.
- Provide regular reports on outreach activities, including attendance, queries and feedback.
Requirements:
- Physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds for booth setup and teardown.
- A valid drivers license and a reliable, working vehicle for self-transportation and materials such as tables and pop up tent to events.
- Passion for the arts and an understanding of the impact of the arts in rural communities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to engage with diverse audiences and build positive relationships.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.
- Organized and able to plan and manage multiple events and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to accommodate a varied schedule, including weekends and evenings, based on event and farmers market schedules.
- Awareness that this position is classified as an independent contractor, and candidates will be responsible for filing their own taxes with the IRS. A 1099 form will be issued by the Roxbury Arts Group.
Compensation: The pay rate for this position is $25 per hour and reimbursement of mileage at the IRS standard mileage reimbursement rate currently $0.65 per mile. The work schedule will vary depending on the dates and times of outreach events – estimated at 10 hours per week.
