Artists work to create, inspire, and enrich the lives of everyone who is touched by their creative efforts. This symposium is dedicated to connecting artists with the opportunities available to them in Delaware County, including emphasis on professional development topics such as grant writing, marketing, and promotion.
Program Schedule:
9:30-10:00 am Meet and Greet: Breakfast and introductions.
10:00-11:30 am Artist As Entrepreneur: a broad overview covering aspects of artist as entrepreneur including law, finance, strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, and networking. Presents the Artist Action Plan as a way to develop and sustain an artist project /and or practice.
11:30 am-12:00 pm Goal Setting Workshop : Advice with practical suggestions for setting goals including brainstorming session with partner.
12:00-1:00 pm Round Table Lunch: Peer learning circles over lunch – discussion topics offered and people can self-identify areas of interest.
1:00-2:00 pm Introduction to Marketing: Tips and advice for contacting arts professionals, connecting with opportunities; social media; creating self-made opportunities, collaborations, creating and maintaining community to generate opportunity.
2:00-4:00 pm Grants and Fundraising: Prospecting and resources for locating fundraising opportunities including overview of NYFA Source database of grants, entrepreneurial approaches (including crowd funding and micro-granting), NYFA’s fiscal sponsorship, elements of a proposal including tips and advice on applications (grant/residencies/open calls) to create fundraising resources to support your professional career.
4:00-5:00 pm NYFA Services and Area Resources: Brief overview of NYFA’s Services to artists and how to access them. Brief overview of the resources made available to artists by the Roxbury Arts Group. Introduction to local foundations and organizations and the resources and opportunities they offer.
