This limited engagement exhibition will give Catskill Residents the chance to rediscover the work of Walt Meade in the Gallery that bears his name. Walt was a lifelong Catskill resident who wore many hats in the community including, but not limited to: farmer, educator, father, and photographer.  The images in this exhibition were photographed in black and white, and hand-colored with Marshall’s Photo Oils to bring the subject to life.

You’re invited to the opening reception on Friday, October 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.  Come to appreciate this amazing collection of wildlife and wildflowers of the Catskills, captured as only Walt could.  We are thrilled to announce that members of Walt’s family will be in attendance to help open this exhibit and celebrate Walt’s life and work in what would be his 100th year.

Join us Saturday, October 17 at 3:00 p for a slide show of additional images taken by Walt Meade and a talk presented by Ginny Scheer, Walt’s wife.  These images are selected from Walt’s extensive collection of color slides depicting Catskills flora and fauna.  Slides will be accompanied by stories of Walt and his role as a nature photographer, as remembered by Ginny.  Long time residents may recognize some of these images from regional publications such as The Catskills Quarterly and Kaatskill Life.
