June 14 – Ceramic Workshop with Peter Yamaoka

Peter Yamaoka will be holding a ceramic workshop in his studio to coincide with his exhibition at the Roxbury Arts Group. The class is open to students at all levels, novice to experienced. The workshop is comprised of two sessions:

Class I Clay Work
Students will work in clay, handbuilding, slab work and coil rolling in the studio. Introductory wheel instruction ( time permitting ). Work may also take place in the garden, where students may draw from the beauty of the natural environment.
All clay work will them be bisque fired.

Class II Glaze Session
Students will select a color ( or colors ) to glaze their bisque fired pieces and help stack the kiln for the glaze firing.

Class cost covers both days, all materials, clay, glazes and the bisque and glaze firing. Students will then collect their finished pieces after the glaze firing. Participants will receive driving directions to Peter’s studio after registering for the workshop.
