$40.00
handmade broom

Ancient techniques, timeless beauty and exquisite broom crafting with Poliana Danila

We’ll be making a 16-inch broom using an ancient technique and an ancient plant: Sorghum. The broom it makes is an extraordinarily effective sweeper, altar piece and a beautiful art object for the wall. You will be able to choose from natural broom corn and the color of the cord. Materials are included in the cost. Tools will be provided for your use during class. At the end of the class you will leave with a beautiful, handcrafted piece.

Poliana is an educator, fiber artist and broom maker who loves working with whatever the plants give/gift us. Originally from Romania, Poliana watched her parents and grandparents working in the gardens, teaching in school, spinning and weaving with the wool from their sheeps. She has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Landscape Design / Horticulture and she has had the privilege to take weaving, knotting, plant dyeing, handcrafted broom classes with different well-known artists  and makers at fiber studios: Textile Art Center in Brooklyn/ Manhattan, Fiber Craft Studio in Spring Valley and upstate NY.
