Audio Arts & Podcasting For Creatives

This two-part “Audio Arts & Podcasting for Creatives” workshop is led by multimedia artist and community organizer Christina Hunt Wood. Christina is a current Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY) AEP Fellow working in collaboration with Roxbury Arts Group on The Living Archive Project, a multidisciplinary project that aims to enrich and rethink rural tradition through an inclusive representation of the histories of people living in the Northern Catskills using a wide range of storytelling practices. Wood is also the producer of “From Here,” a podcast highlighting the lives of local people from historically underrepresented communities, and is a member of Bushel Collective.
 
These sessions will be held in-person at the Headwaters Arts Center, 66 Main Street, Stamford NY on Wednesday, October 18 from 5:30 – 7:30p, and Monday, October 23 from 5:30 – 7:30p.
 
In this two-part class students will….
*Explore the diverse podcasting landscape
*Introduction to your recording equipment and editing software
*Audio recording best practices
*Develop storytelling techniques
*Editing basics
*Promoting your story
*Additionally, participants will produce a short sound piece as part of the workshop
 
Participants completing this workshop series will receive a Tascam DR-07X Stereo Handheld Digital Audio Recorder with USB Audio Interface w/Accessories Bundle. Bundles are available in a limited capacity and early registration is strongly encouraged.
 
 
The registration fee for this workshop series is $25 which is refunded upon completion of both days. Only persons completing both days will receive the Audio Recorder Bundle. Students MUST bring their own laptop or tablet with the free Audacity audio editing software already downloaded before class begins. A link to the software is provided below.
