TJ Wible directs members of The Orchestra Now (TŌN) in a quartet of Baroque music. The quartet will feature Thomas J. Wible playing flute, Zachary Boeding on oboe, Milad Daniari on double bass, and Jesse Goldberg playing piano. Along with master composers of the Baroque era, TJ Wible will also introduce a selection of lesser known composers for a night of beautiful classical music, in a magical Catskills Mountain setting.
Thomas J. Wible has been a concerto soloist throughout the United States and Europe, including appearances at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Germany; Dvorak Hall in Prague, Czech Republic; Franz Liszt Hall in Budapest, Hungary; Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, PA; and the Maurice Guzman Concert Hall in Miami, FL. He gave his Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut in October of 2011.
Recent awards include First Prize Atlanta Flute Club Young Artist Competition, First Prize Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition, First Prize Longy School of Music Concerto Competition, First Prize Music Teacher’s National Association Woodwind Competition, Second Prize New York Flute Club Competition, Second Prize National Flute Association Piccolo Artist Competition and Semi-finalist in the Concert Artist Guild International Competition. As First Prize winner of the 33rd Annual James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition, he was presented in a solo recital at Boston’s Jordan Hall. He has been a finalist for positions with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, San Diego Symphony, and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
As a recitalist, Mr. Wible has presented solo concerts at the Yamaha Piano Salon, Carnegie Mellon University’s Kresge Auditorium, the Boston Public Library’s Rabb Auditorium, Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center, Memorial Church at Harvard University, Engelman Recital Hall at Baruch Performing Arts Center, and Seully Hall at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. He has been a guest artist at the Atlanta Flute Club’s annual Flute Fair and a performer at the National Flute Association Conventions held in Nashville, TN; San Diego, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Pittsburgh, PA; and Anaheim, CA. While living in Boston, MA, Mr. Wible was a core-performing member of August Noise Jamaica Plain, a pop-up summer music festival where classical musician would perform surprise concerts in unconventional locations throughout the Boston area.
Thomas J. Wible is currently a second year member of The Orchestra Now, and innovative pre- professional orchestral training program at Bard College. He holds a Master of Music degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, Artist Diploma from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, Graduate Diploma from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music.
Known for his bold and charismatic playing, oboist Zachary Boeding enjoys an exciting, varied performing career throughout the United States and Canada. Currently a core member of The Orchestra Now, he has also performed with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Kansas City, Princeton, and San Antonio Symphonies, Boston’s Discovery Ensemble, and was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center.
Zachary is a regular recitalist and emcee, presenting across North America in venues like Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Jordan Hall in Boston, and the Salle Bourgie of the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal. A dedicated performer of contemporary music, he has premiered and performed new works with Boston Musica Viva, Boston’s New Music Initiative, Philadelphia’s Network for New Music, among others.
Zachary holds a Master’s degree from McGill University Schulich School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree from New England Conservatory of Music; he studied with Theodore Baskin and John Ferrillo, respectively. Further studies with Anne Marie Gabriele, Jonathan Blumenfeld, Barbara Bishop, and Daniel Stolper have been equally integral to his formation.
Milad Daniari currently resides in New York and maintains a versatile career as a chamber and orchestral musician. He is an inaugural member of The Orchestra Now at Bard College. In addition to his duties inTŌN, Milad also performs with orchestras along the East Coast including the Allentown Symphony, Union City Philharmonic, and the Chesapeake Orchestra. He has performed as principal bass of the National Repertory Orchestra. Other festival appearances include the Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Round Top Festival Institute, and the Alba Music Festival. Milad has also performed with the Chelsea Music Festival under the direction of Ken-David Masur, with ensembles including The Avanti! Chamber Orchestra and The Sebastians. In addition to performing, Milad introduces students to the bass in the Classics on Hudson Music Mentor Program. The recipient of the Ambrose Monell Foundation Scholarship, Milad received his Bachelors of Music at the Manhattan School of Music as a student of New York Philharmonic principal bassist Timothy Cobb. Other influential teachers include Gary Karr, Orin O’Brien, and Jeff Bradetich. He plays a mid-Nineteenth century Viennese instrument and a modern bow by Lee Guthrie.
Jesse Goldberg graduated from Bard College in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature, Anthropology, and Music—her emphasis in this last field was Collaborative Piano. Jesse completed her Artist’s Certificate in Collaborative Piano at Bard’s Conservatory this May. Jesse’s first collaborative endeavors began in Italy, where she accompanied her high school choir in several Italian churches, including the Vatican. She was awarded a medal for “Best Accompanist” while playing for the same choir in the US “Music in the Parks” competition in 2009. She was also the recipient of the 2014 Shafer Award for Performance awarded by Joan Tower, and the recipient of the 2015 Richard M. Siegel award given to a music student who demonstrates academic excellence. While at Bard, Jesse has accompanied undergraduate and graduate vocalists and musicians, played celesta with The Orchestra Now, played for the local high school and middle school choirs, accompanied local Suzuki violin classes, and accompanies at the Mannes preparatory division. Recently, she premiered three song cycles at Fordham Lincoln center, and premiered Robert Carl’s transcription of “Filling the Space” for flute and piano at the Hartt school of music. She currently studies with Erika Switzer and Frank Corliss. She will begin her Masters Degree in collaborative piano at Mannes this Fall.
Founded in 2015, The Orchestra Now is an innovative training orchestra and master’s degree program at Bard College that is preparing a new generation of musicians to break down barriers between modern audiences and great orchestral music of the past and present. Under the leadership of conductor, educator, and music historian Leon Botstein, TŌN mines the wealth of underperformed repertoire, reimagines traditional concert formats, and strives to make the experience of the performers a part of the listeners’ experience. At a TŌN concert, musicians and audience inspire one another, each following their curiosity with a shared sense of adventure.
