at the Old School Baptist Church
intersection of County Route 36 & Cartwright Road
Denver, NY

Hub New Music is a mixed quartet of “young intrepids” (WQXR) exploring a richly diverse palette of 21st century sounds. With a unique instrumentation of flute, clarinet, violin and cello, Hub has been praised for performances that are “elegant and exacting” (the Boston Globe) and inspire a “refreshing sense of pure joy and innocence.” (New Classic LA).

In recent seasons, Hub has enjoyed working with some of today’s most innovative musical minds including Evan Ziporyn, Kati Agocs, Daniel Wohl, Andrew Rindfleisch, and Robert Honstein. As curators and collaborative artists, Hub New Music has brought several large scale initiatives into fruition, including recent portrait concerts of Andrew Norman and Kati Agócs, both of which garnered critical acclaim from the Boston Globe. For its visionary programming as both a quartet and as collaborators, Hub was named one of WQXR’s Q2 Music’s “10 Cutting-Edge Ensembles That Have Captured the Imagination” in 2016.

The ensemble are also passionate educators whose approach to teaching places contemporary music within the context of a centuries old yet rapidly evolving musical tradition. Working with student performers and composers alike at residencies across the country, Hub trains future generations of contemporary artists and places strong emphasis on arts entrepreneurship as a vital component of a musical education. Hub has had the recent pleasure of holding residencies at the New England Conservatory, University of Michigan, Northeastern University, and University of California at Riverside.

Hub New Music is Michael Avitabile, flute; David Dziardziel, clarinet; Danny Koo, violin; and Jesse Christeson, Cello.
