This workshop is a short intro into different techniques of the “wonders of printmaking”. You will learn fun and creative ways to use linocut, monoprint and perhaps more! Perhaps create multiples of your next holiday card in one of the techniques – or maybe you’ll dare to combine techniques for an even more in-depth design. Printmaking is an exciting & unique way to let out your creativity.

About the Artist: Matthias Kern was raised in Celle, a small German city south of Hamburg. He was fortunate to have attended classes with Martha Asfalck-Fietz, a very well known German artist, focusing on watercolor, and printmaking classes with Silvia Slawik-Nolte. He continued his studies with Helga Hentschel-Holterdorf in Worpswede, an artist colony located in northern Germany which further encouraged his desire to soak in as much art as possible. He has presented work all over Germany including shows in Hannover, Hamburg and Tecklenburg. He has exhibited throughout the NYC area and had a solo exhibit, Fairytales & Castles, with the Roxbury Arts Group in 2018.

He enjoys working in the older printmaking techniques as well as more modern techniques of intaglio, encompassing dry point, aquatint, mezzotint, line etching, silk screen, monotype and woodcut.
