Join professional artist Lisbeth Firmin in a one of a kind workshop in the art of grisalle. This form of painting uses only shades of grey or other neutral greyish colors. Lisbeth will take the participants through the history of the form, technique and style. Using only large brushes participants will explore this monochromatic ancient art form and create pieces of their own. Beginners welcome. Supplies will be provided. Please bring a bag lunch.

 

 

 

Lisbeth Firmin is a contemporary American realist whose paintings and monotypes explore the relationship between people and their urban environment, while simultaneously capturing the energy and light of a specific moment in time. For the last four decades her work has been in hundreds of solo and group shows in this country and abroad. Her work has been written about in The New York Times, Provincetown Arts, The Boston Globe and several other prestigious publications. Lisbeth’s pieces are in such notable collections as Hofstra University, Pfizer and Fidelity Investments to name a few. Firmin teaches painting/printmaking at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston Salem, NC and at the Truro Center for the Arts, Castle Hill, Cape Cod, MA.
