The Roxbury Arts Group is pleased to announce an online Zoom artist talk with Jessica Farrell and specially selected guests that feature in her work. The artist talk will begin at 4:30pm. Registration is at the bottom of the page.

The Roxbury Arts Group will exhibit The Wilderness Diary, a series of nine portrait paintings, a book and partnering audio recording by Jessica Farrell, inspired by the diary of the artist’s aunt that was kept during her struggle with bipolar disorder in the 1960s and ‘70s. The Artist Talk, via Zoom, and visits to the Walt Meade Gallery are always free and open to all. For more information about this exhibition and the Roxbury Arts Group call 607.326.7908.

Jessica Farrell is a self-taught painter who grew up in southern Indiana. She spent her early adulthood living in New York City, working in commercial photography and attending evening drawing classes at the School of Visual Arts. Farrell’s paintings reflect her fascination with the natural world and the interconnection of all living things. Influenced by the rural surroundings of her locale in the Catskills, her work explores the vast, raw landscape, verdant forests, abundant wildlife, and the people that live in her community. As a mental health advocate, Farrell is interested in themes that speak to the power and fragility of the human condition and provoke public discourse.

The 2022 Roxbury Arts Group gallery series is sponsored by Roxbury Wine & Spirits. All programs offered by the Roxbury Arts Group are supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature, the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation, the Tianaderrah Foundation, The Community Foundation for South Central New York, The Delaware National Bank of Delhi, and by the generosity of business sponsors and individual donors like you.
