Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup presents “A, My Name Is…”

May 21 @ 7:30 pm

A, My Name Is… playfully explores memory and forgetting, incorporating choreographic fragments and gestures based on memories of heightened experiences.

Inspired by the phenomenon of gravity, the piece is set in a space littered with fallen apples. The vocabulary in this dance grows in the same way as one’s language skills develop over time. Choreographer Stefanie Nelson says, “This work is a reflection on aging and disappearing in relation to memory, movement, words, thoughts, and it investigates physical notions of gravity, repetition, disappearance/presence.”

An audience discussion moderated by local community health advocate Diana Mason, PhD, RN will follow the performance.

“Ferocious and truthful with loopy charm”

The New York Times
