$45 Ebru: Turkish Marbling

July 17, 2022 @ 11:00 am 4:00 pm

Explore the meditative and mesmerizing art of Turkish Marbling at the Headwaters Arts Center on July 16th and 17th! This weekend workshop features Ebru: the Turkish style of marbling.

This art form developed in Central Asia and the Ottoman Empire in the 15th Century. The process of Ebru consists of floating inks, dyes, and paints on a thickened water that are then manipulated using rakes and combs to create flowing patterns. Traditionally used in book binding as Endpapers, the same process is used today as it was in the 15th century.

In this workshop, makers will get familiar with the process of floating inks on water and transferring their intricate designs onto paper or cloth. Join this class for a Zen-like experience!

Participants will experiment throughout the weekend, creating completely unique samples and finished pieces. The same marbling pattern is never achieved twice, making for an awe-inspiring experience.
