August 19 – Art Start! Koinobori from Japan

Wednesday, August 19, 10:30-11:30a
Veterans Memorial Park, Stamford
Free, all supplies included

Families, start your day with art in the park!
Join us on Wednesdays through August 26, from 10:30a – 11:30a, where you’ll create some beautiful projects based on multicultural art from around the world. The projects are best suited for children ages 4-14.
August 19 Project: Kodomo No Hi, or National Children’s Day, is celebrated on the May 5th in Japan. On this day in particular, the Japanese people respect children’s unique personalities & celebrate their happiness. Landscapes across Japan are decorated with koinobori from April to early May, in honor of children and in hope that they will have a good future and will grow up healthy and strong.

This week, our emerging artists will create their koinobori windsock that represents them.

Parents / guardians will need to be hands-on with children who need assistance. This is not a drop off program – families need to stay together. Tables will be spaced no less than 6′ apart. Crafting surfaces and supplies will be sanitized between each participant use. All participants, and their families, must wear masks when not at their assigned crafting station. The “mask required” area will be roped off and labeled.

Call or email to reserve a time and eliminate the wait.
