at the Roxbury Arts Center
5025 Vega Mountain Road
The Jon Irabagon Quartet is happy to be touring new, fresh and exciting originals in their first tour since the pandemic interrupted everyone’s lives incomprehensibly. They plan to play as if a whole year has passed since they’ve been able to play for an appreciative audience… which is actually the case! Irabagon is proud to bring this ensemble to the Roxbury area for the first time after having performed at the Arts Group with his duo featuring Mark Helias on bass and a stunning solo mezzo soprano saxophone concert two years ago.
Jon Irabagon, the winner of the 2008 Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition, composes music based both in the jazz tradition of blues and adds elements of modern classical music and progressive mainstream to create a unique, always fun, and fascinating live experience.
The group features the all-star rhythm section of Matt Mitchell on piano, Chris Lightcap on bass and Dan Weiss on percussion. These musicians have played and toured together for over a dozen years. This tour is made possible with the support of Jazz Road, a national initiative of South Arts, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
Guests wanting to sit together must purchase tickets together. The Hall will be arranged by “guest pods” and chairs may not be moved without the approval of the Arts Group staff. For example: Two couples wishing to sit in a group of four must buy all four tickets together.
