In August we welcome fabric, textile and quilting artist Nat Thomas back to the Roxbury Arts Center for this workshop which focuses on fabric dyeing.
Participants will create their own custom dyed squares, that later may be used for quilt making and more. Thomas will give a brief history and overview of how Procion Dye works and the dynamics in color theory as participants custom mix dye colors to create their own colored fabric squares, made from 100 % natural fiber material.
The Fabric Dying Material Workshop stands on its own, but works hand in hand with the upcoming September’s Drop In Art Class titled “9-Patch, the Next Generation”, when participants will be led by Frances Archibald, Inducted Member of the Catskill Mountains Quilter Hall of Fame and Pat Cumming, Chairperson for the 17th CMQHOF Quilt Show. 14” squares will be used to create a table runner.
Materials needed for the Dying Workshop are provided in the registration fee, however anyone attending is also encouraged to bring their own pieces of 100 % natural fiber material to dye.
