This month’s workshop is led by potter Ros Welchman. Work with clay to make useful items from slabs — for example plates, bowls or wall-hangings. Participants can decorate their pieces with texture and/or colored clay (engobes) and are encouraged to bring any interesting textured materials (for example pieces of crochet, corrugated cardboard, leaves,…) and shallow bowls in which you can form your pieces. Pieces can be completed in one session, but will need to dry and be fired and so may not be available for pick up for 2-3 weeks.
Ros Welchman works with hand-built ceramics, inspired by textures and patterns collected during her travels, and informed by her background in geometry. She is a member of the Longyear Gallery in Margaretville.
