Participants will be introduced to methods of improvisation and comedy, including political satire, stand-up comedy, physical humor, and others. Learn to build improvisational skits, write comedy, and perform in front of an audience. No experience is necessary - just a willingness to exploit the funny bone within.

“Worn Wooden Benches,” by Philip Potak, is a touching and humorous short play about a
handful of people who ponder, joke, bellow and confide.
Using his one-act play “Worn Wooden Benches” as a starting point and template,
Philip Potak will help students:
• create their own characters in a scene • work through revisions that all playwrights endure • direct the participants to read and act in each other’s scenes.
This “new work” will have its premiere presentation at the conclusion of the 5 week workshop.
Aspects of the process in this workshop will include the relationships of a director with a playwright
in developing a new work and how the actors contribute to developing and modifying a script.

Kevin Q. Gray is an artist living in Cherry Valley, New York. His photos are developed using a variety of mediums, including antiquarian photographic processes, Polaroid emulsion lifts, and other mixed media.

REDUCTION RELIEF PRINT MAKING

Learn the basics of reduction relief printmaking using styrofoam plates. Carve and mark the styrofoam plate like you would linoleum or wood.
With water based ink, print multiple layers of color, each time carving away (reducing) more of the plate. This process allows the artist to produce an image rich with color and depth. $30 plus $7 material fee.

Cityscapes: As seen through the eyes of Lubomir Tomas Kralicek, or ‘Lubo’ as he was known to his friends. Lubo was a professional restorer of renowned painters from the 18th and 19th centuries and French impressionists. His personal paintings captured impressions of his favorite places. Lubo became known for his portrayal of New York City street scenes and it is these paintings, along with some of other cites, that we are featuring in our salute to Lubo.
